Citra Tripel

Collaboration Beer Citra Tripel is the latest collaborative effort from CBC and our good friend Anders Kissmeyer, founder of Norrebro Bryghus in Copenhagen, Denmark and now proprietor of the Kissmeyer Beer and Brewing Project. Anders is pursuing the international gypsy brewing path, and in the coming months you’ll see Kissmeyer Beer flowing not only from CBC but also Hill Farmstead inVT, and he’s so far brewed at MicroBrasserie Charlevoix in Quebec, Fanø Bryghus in Denmark, Sigtuna Brygghus in Sweden, and Lervig Aktiebryggeri in Norway. The Great Dane (as we call him) is so far unstoppable! [wpex more="Read more" less="Read less" Citra Tripel was brewed with imported and New England pale barley malt, German malted wheat, and English oat malt. Hallertauer, Glacier, and Citra hops in the kettle along with orange blossom honey contributed a spicy/floral kick. Additionally, we boosted that character with lemongrass, fresh lime zest, and peel from oranges, lemons, and grapefruit. Spice and fruit notes from a guest yeast strain (Brasserie d’Achouffe) offer a unique boost of funky flavors that perfectly round out this tasty beer. Citra Tripel is bright gold in color with a slight unfiltered haze, full-bodied, fruity, and quite strong. Aromas of orange blossoms and citrus first greet the nose, then carry through to the palate while maintaining balance, structure, and subtlety. The beer’s finish blends into a complex warming expression of bread dough, spices, citrus, estery alcohol, and hops. We hope you enjoy it![/wpex]
